Street Party!
Portland Street from Alderney to Victoria Noon-4PM
On Saturday, Portland Street will be closed to motor vehicle traffic from Alderney Drive to Victoria Road and filled with live ice carving, street games, music and lots of fun! Read on to learn about all that will be set up along Portland Street and around Downtown Dartmouth.
Live Ice Carving
Along Portland Street, MacLeod Lorway Sculpture Garden, East Coast Credit Union, Alderney Landing
Enjoy the thrill of watching live ice carving! Along Portland Street, you will find many of our talented carvers working away to create magic in the planters. The MacLeod Lorway Sculpture Garden on the Dartmouth Waterfront will have impressive sculptors carving away. At Alderney Landing (outside of the market area) you will find over a dozen students from NSCAD showing off their skills and each carving a sculpture. At East Coast Credit Union (155 Ochterloney Street), Chandana Kapila will be using his intricate skills to add ice sculptures to the space.
Live Music & Tunes
JUNO Awards Stage and Youth Stage
The JUNO Stage will be on Portland Street near Prince Street and filled with talents curated by our friends at the JUNO Awards as a part of Ice Festival Stages! You will find Swee, Douvet, Troy Power, Sirreal, and Jules Worth on the JUNOS Stage Further along Portland Street, you will find the Youth Stage, curated by Marine Drive Talent Management. The stage will have tunes throughout the Street Party featuring a talented line-up of youth artists. In the evening, Ice Festival Stages presented by O'Regan's Automotive Group will fill venues throughout downtown - more on Stages through the link.
Breaking Circus Juggling Workshop
Portland Street
Join the talented crew from Breaking Circus Collective to learn how to juggle! They will be set up on Portland Street with balls for you to use, and they will teach you the basics of juggling.
Street Games & Activities
Portland Street
Big Entertainment Inflatable Inc. will be set up along Portland Street by Victoria Road with street activities and games for folks to enjoy. Also along Portland Street, there will be a street games zone with giant Jenga, Connect 4 and more.
Meet Elmo & Cookie Monster
Alderney Landing Theatre Noon-4PM
New to the Downtown Dartmouth Ice Festival presented by East Coast Credit Union this year are Sesame Street's Elmo and Cookie Monster! Elmo and Cookie Monster will be joining us for a meet and greet on both Saturday and Sunday. You can find these iconic Sesame Street members in the Alderney Landing Theatre from noon-4pm on Saturday and Sunday. Please note that they will be taking milk and cookie breaks periodically throughout the day.
Street Curling
MacLeod Lorway Sculpture Garden Noon-4PM
Enjoy the thrill of curling on our inflatable Street Curling Rink! The rink will be set up on the Dartmouth Waterfront. Grab your friends and family to try out this exciting curling opportunity.
Decathlon Fun Zone
Dartmouth Ferry Terminal Park
Join the crew from Decathlon for games and activities in Ferry Terminal Park. They will be set up and ready for some Ice Festival fun on Saturday and Sunday from 12pm-4pm. Be sure to drop by for some sports, lawn games and more!
Ice Sculptures for Viewing
MacLeod Lorway Sculpture Garden, King's Wharf Place, Alderney Landing
Live carving will be happening throughout the day, but there will already be some sculptures complete for viewing! Complete sculptures will be at the MacLeod Lorway Sculpture Garden on the Dartmouth Waterfront, in King's Wharf Place, and an Ice Throne outside of Alderney Landing near the market area. The Dartmouth Waterfront will have other carving taking place, but King's Wharf will be complete, providing a bit of a quieter area for viewing without chain saws as close.
Farmers Market
Alderney Landing (inside) 8AM-1PM
Find a wide variety of product from the best in locally produced produce, to home style baked goods and much more. Enjoy market music from 10am-12:30pm as you are checking out the vendors. Learn more about the market and vendors through the link.
